イベントについて

WTF Tuesdays are back at the Green! A new series mixing up jazz improv sessions- contemporary classical- and live scores to classic movies.

This Tuesday features a solo set from Miyama McQueen-Tokita and then launching their new album, You Sing The Song, Greg Sher & Dylan van der Schyff.

Music from 8:30pm // Tickets $15 (or pay what you can at the door)

FIRST SET Miyama McQueen-Tokita - Koto Tokyo-based koto and bass koto player Miyama McQueen-Tokita’s practice re-imagines the vocabulary and tradition of Japanese music in the contemporary context of improvisation and experimental music. With the occasional addition of electronics and voice, Miyama’s work as a composer and interpreter speaks beyond her foundation in hogaku and experimental music, with influences ranging from Kazue Sawai to Meredith Monk.

SECOND SET (ALBUM LAUNCH) You Sing The Song is a live in-studio performance of improvisations for saxophone and drums/percussion. The recordings are un-edited and comprise the totality of the performance, which unfolded naturally in two 20-minute parts. Aesthetically, the performance is inspired by the traditions of American free-jazz and European free-improvisation, spanning delicate micro-textures to large scale expressions of energy and emotion.

Album released July 13, 2023 - https://gregsher.bandcamp.com/album/you-sing-the-song

Greg Sher – alto saxophone Dylan van der Schyff – drums, bells, bowls etc.

Recorded by Dylan van der Schyff, June 7th, 2023 at the Brian Brown Studio, University of Melbourne Southbank, Australia
